DINOSAUR JR., an American band that made a huge contribution to the influences of alternative rock. Singer J Mascis’ breathy vocals and distinct guitar sound, reminiscent of classic rock from the 60s and 70s and characterised by an extensive use of feedback and distortion, were highly influential in the alternative rock movement of the 90s.
